A robotic milking machine for goats – developed by Causeway based dairy equipment manufacturer Dairymaster – has appeared on a billboard in Times Square. Crowds moving through New York City have been watching the award-winning Swiftflo Revolver Goat Rotary in action on a colossal video screen. The innovative design utilises a robotic carriage which allows one operator to milk up to 1,300 goats per hour, with a milking unit attached every 2.5 seconds. The goat rotary has garnered major international interest – from the Middle East to Russia to the Netherlands – and has been awarded the Eurotier Gold Medal for Innovation.
According to Edmund Harty of Dairymaster, in order to accumulate any appreciable amount of milk, you need to milk a lot of goats: [audio_player src=”http://media.radiokerry.ie/mediamanager/embed/audio/53581/medium/”]
