Kerry child allegedly missed a third of school days

court gavel book from PixabayA court has heard it is alleged a Kerry child has missed a third of school days since the start of this academic year.

The pupil’s mother appeared before Tralee District Court where Judge James O’Connor described the matter as “more than serious”.

The case was first brought before the court by the Child and Family Agency last June when the child had an absenteeism rate of 43 per cent.

Judge James O’Connor adjourned the case to November 30th for hearing.

Solicitor Ed O’Sullivan said the mother will do everything in her power to improve attendance in the meantime.
