Kerry is among the top ten for compensation awards paid out for traffic accidents in the country.
According to the Irish Independent; insurance companies paid out more money last year to motorists injured in accidents who made claims through the State’s Injuries Board.
The number of motor awards settled in 2016 was up 8pc on the previous year.
More than 9,564 compensation awards were made for traffic accidents nationally, a rise from more than 8,815 on the year before.
314 were awarded in Kerry in 2016.
The cost of settling these claims also increased with just over €233m in motor awards processed by the board, up from €201m.
The rise in value of awards agreed by the Injuries Board comes after surges of up to 70pc in the cost of motor premiums.
