Kerry almost missed out on Star Wars. That’s according to Trina Vargo who initially arranged the meetings to discuss locations with JJ Abrams and the Irish Film Board. Vargo claims that she found dealing with Irish public servants frustrating and that the Irish Film Board was slow to follow up with Abram’s on an initial meeting in 2010. She added that she persuaded Abrams to give the Irish Film Board ‘another go’ in 2013. Speaking in today’s Sunday Times, Vargo said that filming Star Wars on Skellig Michael “will make The Quiet Man and Ryan’s Daughter seem like hiccups in terms of tourism possibilities and impact”. According to the Sunday times The Irish Film Board declined to comment on Vargo’s claim that it failed to follow up on an earlier Meeting in 2010.
