A decision on the future of a scheme issuing Irish heritage certificates is to be made in the coming weeks. The programme is run by Killorglin based company FEXCO on behalf of the Department of Foreign Affairs. Since the scheme opened in September 2011 just 3,223 certificates, which cost €40 each, have been issued. Of these almost 300 were gifted to a number of recipients including Hollywood A-lister Tom Cruise. Only 194 certificates have been issued so far this year.
