Jury sworn in at trial of Beaufort man accused of recklessly discharging a firearm and endangering the life of another man

A jury has been sworn in at Tralee Circuit Criminal Court at the trial of a man accused of discharging a firearm and endangering the life of his daughter’s former partner. Tralee courthouse Martin Clifford of Glencuttane, Kilgobnet, Beaufort denies both charges which allegedly occurred outside his home on New Year’s Day 2014. Fifty-one-year-old Martin Clifford denies recklessly discharging a firearm outside his home on January 1st, 2014. He also denies endangering the life of 33-year-old John Foley of Boheshill, Glencar, Beaufort on that date. Outlining details of the case to the jury panel, prosecuting counsel Tom Rice said the injured party is the former partner of the accused man’s daughter. He said the trial was likely to take between three and four days. A jury of five women and seven men has been sworn in.
