Lawyers for Judge Brian Curtin are in The High Court today. They’re expected to lodge papers which will challenge the powers of the Dail committee inquiring into his conduct. An Oireachtas sub-committee was set up earlier this year to make a decision on whether or not to impeach Circuit Court Judge Brian Curtin. It followed his acquittal on charges of possessing child pornography. This month it emerged that Judge Curtin would be seeking a judicial review of the committee’s demand that he hand over his personal computer for examination. In light of this the committee decided last week to adjourn proceedings until January when it will review the latest developments. Today Judge Curtin`s legal team are in the high court where it’s understood that they’re lodging papers taking a legal challenge against the committee’s work.
