Judge refuses application to have Brian Curtin case moved.

Judge Carroll Moran has refused an application to have the trial of Brian Curtin moved to Dublin. Judge Moran said given the particular nature of the alleged offence which must attract strong views from jurors whether in Kerry or Dublin, there was no basis to come to the conclusion that a jury couldn’t be empanelled in Tralee rather than Dublin. He also ordered that details of the incidents which Judge Curtin`s Counsel complained of should not be reported. The DPP had opposed the transfer of the trial. Judge Curtin is charged with possession of child pornography under the child trafficking and pornography act. The trial is scheduled to begin on April 20th.
