FG deputy Jimmy Deenihan has sharply criticised the owners of the Imperial Stag Plant in Listowel for the abrupt manner in which they took the decision to close the factory yesterday. According to Deputy Deenihan the liquidator was appointed without any negotiations with staff, unions or local management. He has described the move as bad business. Negotiations on a redundancy package for 28 workers were ongoing ahead of yesterday decision to cease all production. Deputy Deenihan has described the move as a cruel blow to staff, some of whom have given 40 years service to Stag.
