The Irish Farmers Association is meeting with County Manager Martin Riordan this lunchtime. The meeting is the first being held between The Manager and The Farmers Lobby group. The IFA is to express its strong opposition to the introduction of development fees. At this month’s County Council meeting the Manager made a case for levies saying they’re needed to develop community services. However IFA County Chairman Flor McCarthy says most of those who would be forced to pay levies will get no benefit from them.
