Injured body boarder airlifted to University Hospital Limerick

Shannon HelicopterValentia Coastguard have co-ordinated the rescue of a man in County Clare this morning. He was body bording at the time of the incident in Ballard Bay near Doonbeg, close to a world famous surfing spot called ‘O’Reilly’s Wave’. The 34 year old suffered a suspected broken leg. A number of other body boarders and surfers helped him from the water and onto the rocks while the alarm was raised. Valentia coastguard received the call at 9:44 this morning and tasked the Shannon helicopter, Rescue 115. The man was then airlifted to University Hospital Limerick for Treatment.
