Imperial Stag in Listowel is to close down with immediate effect, leaving a further 13 people jobless. The announcement comes less than two weeks after management announced 28 redundancies. A liquidator is to be appointed to the company which has made pocket knives in Listowel for over 40 years. Staff were informed of the decision this afternoon.Management had announced on February 27th that 13 jobs would be kept to run a warehousing and a small production line. Last Friday members of Siptu rejected redundancy terms which offered workers the statutory pay-out. A union representative will meet the staff in Listowel tomorrow.
