IFTA glory for Kerry’s Fassbender

Among the winners on the night was Kerry native Michael Fassbender who won Best Lead Actor in Film, for his role as Steve Jobs. The big winner was Room, produced by Element Pictures in Ireland, the film received awards for Best Film, Best Film Script for Emma Donoghue, Best Director, Editing and Original Music. Liam Neeson was also honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award which was presented to him by President Michael D Higgins. Actress and humanitarian Roma Downey came away with the Irish Diaspora Award, presented to her by musician and fellow humanitarian Bob Geldof. Director of the Survivalist, Stephen Fingleton, won the Irish Film Board Rising star award and Ben Cleary’s Stutterer won Best Short Film.
