The HSE says it’s starting the process of improving communal living spaces at a south Kerry hospital. A report by the Health Information and Quality Authority found that the standard of care at Caherciveen Community Hospital was good and that staff were knowledgeable of residents’ needs. The inspection report said however that improvements are required in relation to bedrooms and communal living spaces. The HSE says it’s engaging a design team to start preparing plans for the hospital’s redevelopment. A quality improvement plan will then be submitted to HIQA outlining how the HSE will bring the centre into full compliance with residential standards for older people.
