Housing applicants urged to respond to KCC letter before end of month

John Breen Kerry County Council Director of Housing & Social Support, Director of Community & Enterpriseerry County Council is urging any council housing applicants who have received a letter in recent weeks from it to respond by the end of the month. Around 5,000 people are on the waiting list for a council house in Kerry. Last year 400 families were provided with accommodation solutions by the local authority and 140 council houses were re-let. A housing needs assessment is currently being carried out and over 1,000 letters have been sent to applicants but just 14 per cent have responded. Director of Housing John Breen says those who don’t respond run the risk of being removed from the housing list and social welfare being notified: [audio_player src=”http://media.radiokerry.ie/mediamanager/embed/audio/54556/medium/”]
