Highest winter air temperatures recorded in Valentia

The highest mean temperature for this winter of 8.2 degrees was recorded at the Valentia observatory. Mean air temperatures for the season were more than one degree higher than normal everywhere and it was the warmest winter since 1978 / 79 in most areas across the country. The highest daily rainfall of 45 millimetres was also recorded in Valentia. However it was the driest winter since 1996 / 97 in many areas of Leinster and Munster.
