Two motorists in the county continue to be on 10 penalty points. While over three thousand drivers have received penalty points for speeding 90 per cent of these are on 2 points. The penalty point figures are released as Gardai begin their bank holiday crackdown on speeding and careless driving. From today careless driving becomes a penalty point offence. Looking at the points issued to date Kerry fares poorly, particularly in relation to seat belts. 365 drivers have been issued with points for this offence, the vast majority for no driver seat belt, 13 for no belt on a front seat child and 24 for rear seat. The figures show that the biggest motoring offence on the roads is speeding. 248 drivers in Kerry have 4 points 29 have 6 and eight are on 8 points.
