High levels of Radon Gas recorded in Kerry.

Radon gas is now believed to be responsible for 200 cancer deaths in the country every year. Kerry has been listed as having one of the highest levels of the gas in the country, with a house in Castleisland recording 200 times the safe limit. The Radiological Institute is warning people in the county to be wary of gas seeping in through their houses or through radon in drinking water, especially where the supply comes from private supplies. It`s understood over 90,000 families are at risk of developing cancer from the radioactive gas.
