Heavy garda presence at funeral of latest gangland victim Vinnie Ryan

Church candlesThe funeral of Vinnie Ryan has heard that it’s easy to take life for granted. There was a heavy garda presence at the funeral of the murdered 25-year-old this morning in Dublin. Armed gardaí patrolled outside the Church of the Holy Trinity in Donaghmede this morning as hundreds gathered for the funeral of Vinnie Ryan. His partner and 6 week old baby daughter led the coffin into the church, as motorcycles revved on either side of the procession, celebrating his love for the sport. Inside the church Fr Gerry Corcoran said that the violent nature of Vinnie Ryan’s death is a stark reminder not to take life for granted. He painted a picture of a family man, who was given new life by the birth of his daughter Phoenix 6 weeks ago. He said Vinnie was a man who didn’t smoke, drink or do drugs, was witty and intelligent and valued friendship dearly. None of the paramilitary aspects seen at the funeral of his brother Alan were on show today. Vinnie Ryan will be buried in Fingal cemetery this afternoon.
