Two events centred on 1916 take place this evening in Dingle’s An Díseart.
Art collective STUDIO 8 Kerry Contemporary are set to launch an exhibition entitled ‘Guns & Chiffon’ at 6pm. The exhibit explores political and societal shifts over the past 100 years and will be opened by Brandon based print-maker Niall Naessens.
At 8pm, UCD lecturer Dr Mary McAuliffe and co-authors of the recently published ‘Kerry & 1916’ – Bridget McAuliffe and Owen O’Shea – will host a special talk on the era in An Díseart’s chapel.
Local historian Micheál Ó Moráin will also speak about West Kerry 1916 figures such as Tomás Ághas and An Seabhac.
