A vice-president with one of the world’s largest hotel and leisure companies has praised the can-do attitude of development groups in South Kerry. Starwood Hotels & Resorts recently established a customer service centre in Sneem. Seven jobs have been created with more to come. In an interview with the Irish Examiner, a Starwood vice-president for Europe, Asia and the Middle East praised the role of Sneem Enterprise Centre and the South Kerry Development Partnership. Caroline Cooney-Hurrell says these groups along with the IDA were of great help. Ms Cooney-Hurrell, who has responsibility for call centre operations, says the three organisations compiled a register of possible job candidates which led to the recruitment of German, French and Dutch speakers. She says the Sneem Enterprise Centre Committee, South Kerry Development Partnership and the IDA helped with technology as well as being on-site contacts for Starwood. Ms Cooney-Hurrell says the company looked at a number of other places before settling on Sneem.
