Gardaí are warning businesses to be careful of counterfeit €20 and €50 notes in circulation.
They say criminals have made very determined efforts recently to pass around the dud notes.
Gardaí say the criminals have used the fake notes to pay for cheap items in stores in order to get as much change back as possible from unsuspecting shopkeepers.
These incidents have happened in recent days in North Cork including Kanturk and Charleville.
However, gardaí are warning that the counterfeit notes could easily be in circulation in Kerry as well.
If you’ve suspicions, you’re asked to contact your local garda station.
