Thieves targeted the cars of churchgoers while they were at Mass in South Kerry on Saturday night. Parishioners were at 6.30pm Mass in the Michael J Quill Centre in Kilgarvan when a number of their cars were broken into. Gardaí say they’re received reports of two break-ins, one car was damaged but nothing was stolen. Eileen Finnegan’s car window was broken and her bag and wallet, which contained €500, were stolen. She made the discovery at around 7.20 on Saturday evening just after leaving Mass. Eileen says what really hurts is the loss of sentimental items including photographs of her children who live in Australia. The workshed at Gortrooska was broken into sometime between 4pm on Saturday and noon yesterday when the crime was discovered. Some property was stolen. Killarney gardaí are trying to establish if there’s a link between this crime and the break-in to cars in Kilgarvan on Saturday evening.
