Gardai in Tralee have confirmed that they have extended the detention of the woman arrested earlier this morning in connection with the death of a three year old for a further 6 hours. The female Non National was arrested at her home shortly after 7:30 this morning and was questioned by Gardai.She is being held under section four of the Criminal Justice Act. The three year old Polish girl received serious head injuries in an incident in the early hours of wednesday morning last at a house in Kileen Woods in Tralee. She was placed on a life support machine at Kerry General Hospital, but died on Friday afternoon. Gardai say there are awaiting the results of a post mortem carried out on the childs body by the State Pathologist Margaret Bolster.
