Garda warning after heating oil is stolen from three Kerry homes

Householders are being warned to secure their oil tanks, after three homes in Kerry were targeted by thieves stealing home heating oil.

Central heating oil was stolen from two homes in Lixnaw, and one on the outskirts of Tralee over the past week.

Gardaí say this was ‘unusual’ at this time of year.

They’re warning the public to ensure their oil tanks are locked, and if possible, to locate the tanks in an area not visible from the road.

Gardaí also say householders should invest in an oil level gage, which sets off an automatic alarm if the oil levels drop dramatically.
