A decline in the number of religious sisters has forced the Franciscan Missionaries to transfer their four care centres in Kerry to the order of St. John of God. The St. Mary of the Angel`s centres in Beaufort, Caherciveen, Listowel and Dingle, provide services for people with intellectual disabilities. From 1st January 2005, they will be managed by the St. John of God Brothers. Announcing the transfer of ownership today (Tuesday), St.Ita Sutherland of the Franciscan Sisters expressed her gratitude to the brothers for their ‘vision and generosity’. No staff losses will result from the ownership transfer.
