Four hour barricade ends in Tralee

A four hour barricade has come to an end in Tralee. Just after 8 o’clock, the woman who had barricaded herself into a shop in the town centre was taken unharmed from the scene. The woman, who was carrying several knives, entered the halal shop at Lower Castle Street in the town centre at 4 o’clock this afternoon.   Scene at Lower Castle Street, Tralee where woman barricaded herself into shop. August 7th, 2015. At around 4 o’clock, the young woman, who had a number of knives, blocked herself into the rear of the building. Gardaí were called to the scene and staff were evacuated. During the four hour barricade, there were no other people in the building asides from garda negotiators in talks with the woman. Members of the Garda Emergency Response Unit which deals with barricade situations were also present along with an ambulance. The woman who’s in her early thirties is understood to be from North Cork. Members of her family were brought to the scene to speak to the young woman. Shortly after 8pm, she left the shop through a side entrance of an adjacent building at Courthouse Lane and was then transferred to an ambulance.
