A former member of the Rose of Tralee centre in Washington says the pubs and restaurants in Tralee need to put together a rescue package for the festival. According to Pat Troy letting the festival go would be a disaster for the town. Mr. Troy was speaking on this mornings Kerry Today. His remarks follow a statement from Tourism Minister John O Donohue that the government will not give financial assistance to the Rose which has debts of 900,000 euro. Mr Troy says its time for the locals to take control of the event and bring it back to the people.
