€28,566 in capital expenditure has been allocated to Kerry County Council in respect of fire safety works at four Kerry halting sites.
Funding was allocated by the Department of Housing to the Council to carry out the works at sites in Killarney and Tralee.
An increase in capital provision has also been announced by the Housing Department for the delivery of Traveller-specific accommodation.
Minister of State with responsibility for Housing and Urban Renewal Damien English has announced a capital provision of €9 million for the delivery of Traveller-specific accommodation, including group housing and halting sites for Traveller families this year.
This allocation of €9 million represents an increase of €3.5 million allocated in 2016.
Kerry County Council received just over €28,000 to carry out fire safety works at Gortroe and Deerpark halting sites in Killarney and Rathass and the Dingle Road site in Tralee.
The works have now been completed.
A Council spokesperson said it’s preparing a funding submission for remedial and enhancement works at halting sites around the county and these will be submitted to the Department as soon as possible.
