United manager Alex Ferguson has admitted he is in the dark over Malcolm Glazer’s plans for the club. Glazer is expected to lodge a formal bid with the Old Trafford board today, the latest step on a seemingly unstoppable march towards total ownership. There are suggestions that the American is willing to offer Ferguson a five-year deal, and a 20 million pounds annual transfer kitty, to continue as manager.Whether that will appeal to Ferguson though is another matter. He has previously spoken out against any change in the club’s ownership structure, and has developed a strong bond with the supporters who have been left so outraged at Glazer’s involvement. Meanwhile, United have written to the Premier League asking them to sort out the John Obi Mikel transfer wrangle. The 18-year-old Nigerian is at the centre of an extraordinary tug of war between United and Chelsea. He is currently holed up in a London hotel, having refused to report for training with his club Lyn Oslo yesterday. United and Lyn Oslo insist Mikel is a United player. Mikel though claims he was bullied into signing for United, who now believe the Nigerian is acting under duress, with agents trying to persuade him to change his mind. Chelsea have yet to comment on the controversy.
