Childcare groups in the county are giving a cautious welcome to the extension of childcare staffing grants for another two years. The announcement comes after representations were made from centres who claimed they would be hit hard if the grants were pulled.Kay O Mahoney with the South Kerry Childcare Development says while they welcome the allocation, the Government needs to address the whole area of childcare. She says childcare groups are effectively running the childcare system for the government and they need assurances that they have a long term future.
