Expected 1916 Banna commemoration will be televised

It’s anticipated  that the State ceremony at Banna Strand, which is part of events to mark the centenary of 1916, will be televised. KCC 1916 launch On April 21st next, the President will lay a wreath in honour of Roger Casement  and his attempt to land arms at Banna to assist the Easter Rising. It’s one of the centrepiece events in Kerry to commemorate the Rising. The full list  is available at www.kerry2016.ie. Printed copies of the programme of events will be available shortly in libraries across the county. Kate Kennelly is arts officer with Kerry County Council which is organising the centenary commemorations. She says she expects the ceremony at Banna to be shown on TV.
