An event celebrating the life of Christie Hennessy will go ahead in his home town of Tralee later this year.
Doubt had been cast as to whether it was going to take place in the county town, as it has for the last seven years.
The Celebration of Christie Hennessy and Songwriters was founded by Francie Conway, and honours the life and music of one of Tralee’s most famous sons.
There had been speculation the festival could be moved to Killarney, but Tralee Chamber Alliance and Tralee Municipal District councillors met with organisers with a view to retaining the event.
It’s now been confirmed that it’ll take place on the 2nd and 3rd of November in the Ashe Hotel, Tralee.
Cathaoirleach of the Tralee Municipal District, Cllr Graham Spring says it’s great news.
