Evening Sports Update


Trainer Willie Mullins has confirmed that all of his stable stars will race at the Punchestown Festival later this month.

Annie Power, Arctic Fire, Djakadam, Let’s Dance, Melon, Nichols Canyon, Penhill, Un De Sceaux and Vroum Vroum Mag are all set to run as the Carlow-based handler aims to be leading trainer for the 12th year in-a-row.

For Annie Power it’ll be her first outing since the same Festival last year.


Kerry’s Louise Galvin is in the Ireland squad for the Sevens World Series tournament in Japan on Saturday the 22nd and Sunday the 23rd of April.

Westmeath teenager Katie Heffernan could make her debut in the event.

The 19-year-old joins Kim Flood, and Emma Murphy who also come into the 13-player squad which includes 15-a-side regulars Sene Naoupu and Hannah Tyrrell.
