GAA
The focus this evening is on hurling and Ulster football as the pre-season tournaments continue around the country.
In the Co-op superstores.ie Munster Hurling League there’s a meeting of near neighbours Clare and Limerick in Sixmilebridge, while Cork play host to Waterford in Mallow.
Throw-in for both games is at 7.30.
In the Walsh Cup at 7.15 DIT take on NUI Galway, and 15 minutes later Meath face IT Carlow.
In Gaelic football there are six games in the Bank of Ireland Dr. McKenna Cup – all of which get going at 8pm.
In Section A Armagh face Down and Derry take on Queen’s University Belfast.
In Section B Fermanagh meet Antrim and Monaghan take on St. Mary’s.
And in Section C it’s Tyrone against Donegal, and Cavan versus Ulster University.
RUGBY
Conor Murray has seen a neuroligist, but the province insist the scrum-half does not have a concussion.
He is a likely starter for Munster’s final Champions Cup pool game at home to Racing this Saturday.
Murray was injured in last weekend’s win away to Glasgow, but has passed the return-to-play protocols.
BOXING
Michael Conlan’s first professional opponent has been confirmed as the American Tim Ibarra.
The Colorado fighter has lost four of his eight pro bouts to date.
The fight will take place at the Theatre adjascent to Madison Square Garden on Saint Patrick’s Day.

Cathy only has a couple of horses currently in training and she told Dave Keena she will be out to put one over on her brother, Tony Martin, who saddles the red-hot favourite for the race in Melbourne Cup runner-up Heartbreak City….
