A major fire covering hundreds of acres in part of Killarney National Park is now under control. The fire was in the western section of the National Park, near Tomies Wood. Three units of the fire service attended the blaze which broke out around 7.30 this morning. An Air Corps helicopter helped firefighters in their attempts to extinguish the blaze. There is still pockets of fire in certain mountainous areas however, and Kerry Fire Service are continuing to monitor the situation.
