It’s been confirmed that a man in his 70s has died following a house fire in Moyvane overnight. The alarm was raised at around 11 o’clock last night, with four units of the fire brigade attending the scene at the Woodgrove housing estate in the North Kerry village. A spokesperson for Limerick Fire Control confirmed that three fire appliances were sent to the scene, two from Listowel and one from Ballybunion. It took just under four hours to bring the blaze under control. A Garda spokesman said the fire is being investigated and the scene has been preserved for a forensic examination. However, early indications are that the fire was not suspicious. It’s understood that the man, believed to have been local, was the sole occupant of the house. His body has been removed to Kerry University Hospital where a post mortem will take place later today.
