€63,900 Funding for Kerry under Local Diaspora Engagement Fund

diasporaThis week grants totalling €63,900 were awarded to 19 Kerry recipients under the Local Diaspora Engagement Fund (LDEF) 2016. The funding is part of an overall national pot of €350,000 awarded to 105 local and community organisations for projects and initiatives. The fund is designed to promote diaspora engagement at a county, local and community level – in line with the objectives of Global Irish: Ireland’s Diaspora Policy published by Government in March last year. The funding in 2016 will support the development of strong diaspora links within the community through a diverse range of projects including genealogy projects, networking and media initiatives as well as literary and cultural events involving the diaspora. KERRY Fine Gael TD, Brendan Griffin welcoming the grants this week said Kerry has performed particularly well in this round of funding which will strengthen links between the people of Kerry and our diaspora.
