€33 million spent on Kerry’s roads in 2016

33 million euro was invested in Kerry’s roads in 2016.
This included road projects, repairs and enhancements using resources from Kerry County Council, Transport Infrastructure Ireland and the Department of Transport.
Kerry County Council invested €400,000 in William Street in Listowel as part of an overall €800,000 enhancement including upgrading of gas lines, fibre optic cables and water mains.
€1.6m was spent on pavement and footpath improvements on Iveragh Road in Killorglin.
Preliminary work has begun on Tralee town centre enhancements including preparatory works on Denny Street and The Mall as part of a major investment in the town centre.

Work on a new road to replace the Cliff Road in Rossbeigh, costing €1.1m is expected to begin in the coming months.

The contract for the major improvement works between Lispole and Ballynasare and between Ballygarret and Camp on the N86 was awarded in November to Kerry-based Allman Contracts Ltd and Mid-Cork Tarmacadam Ltd operating as a joint venture.

The project worth €8m will take an estimated 18 months to complete
