Politicians in the county are calling for The Taoiseach to reconsider a national day of mourning in honour of Pope John Paul. 90% of callers to the Kerry Today programme on Radio Kerry said Bertie Ahern should declare a day of mourning as a mark of respect.The Mayor of Kerry Ned O Sullivan says he is disappointed at the decision. As Chairman of the Fianna Fail Party in North Kerry Cllr O Sullivan says he believes The Taoiseach has made an error of judgement. Independent Councillor Brendan Cronin says The Taoiseach still has time to row back on the decision.
