Dingle company Murphy’s Ice Cream sees profits increase by 20 percent

Murphys ice cream logoA Kerry ice-cream manufacturer has increased its profits by 20 percent after opening a second outlet in Dingle the same year. Murphy’s Ice Cream recorded profits of over €136,000 (€136,491) in 2014 and paid out over €570,000 in wages the same year. The Dingle-based gourmet company that was set up by brothers, Kieran and Seán Murphy, now employs 24 but Kieran says its workforce will grow to 45 during the tourist season. He says it’s been a challenging year for ice cream with organic vanilla prices soaring from €80 per kg to €240 per kg but their priority was maintaining good value for customers.
