Delays for Tralee motorists on Killarney road to last for another year

Gardai say they do not have the resources available to position officers on point duty on the main road out of Tralee to Killarney. Motorists are continuing to experience long delays at peak and off-peak times between Austin Stack Park and Manor. Sergeant Diarmuid O’Shea says it’s a matter for the council, but a Senior Engineer in the Roads and Transportation Department of Kerry County Council says the local authority is working behind the scenes to alleviate the traffic problems. Frank Hartnett says a number of projects are in the pipeline subject to funding beginning with a roundabout outside the railway station in Tralee. Work on the Eastern Ring-road will not commence until Autumn 2006 at the earliest.
