Deenihan didn’t expect or ask to be appointed by Taoiseach to the Seanad

Jimmy DeenihanFormer Minister Jimmy Deenihan has said he didn’t expect to be appointed by Taoiseach Enda Kenny to the Seanad. Mr Kenny announced his eleven appointments to the 25th Seanad this week – but no Kerry politicians were among those named. There had been some hopes that former Minister Jimmy Deenihan and former Kerry Senator Tom Sheahan would be among those appointed but neither made the list. Six of those appointed are former Fine Gael TDs. While Five of the appointees are independents and include Joan Freeman the founder of Pieta House and Colette Kelleher the CEO of Alzheimers Ireland. Mr Deenihan said he is currently committed to a range of projects both within and outside of the county and is giving himself time to comtemplate his future in representative politics: [audio_player src=””]
