An Post says a decision will be made on the future of Glencar Post Office within two weeks of the closure of a period of public consultation.
Company management informed Kerry TDs Martin Ferris, John Brassil, Michael Healy-Rae and Danny Healy-Rae and Senator Paul Coghlan of the timeline at a meeting in Dail Eireann.
The family of the late Post Mistress Sheila O’Sullivan, who passed away just a few weeks ago, want to keep the post office open.
Public submissions will be accepted until tomorrow (Friday 23rd February).
Sinn Fein Deputy Martin Ferris said the importance of a Post Office in a rural area such as Glencar was highlighted and described the meeting as hopeful.
