A scaled down pier for Cromane could be provided by the end of 2005 according to Cllr Michael Cahill. Initial proposals for a 12 million euro pier were rejected by Marine Minister Dermot Ahern as too expensive.A smaller pier costing in the region of 7 and a half million euro is now being suggested. This will include provision for expansion at a later stage. Cllr Michael Cahill says the local community is happy to progress with this latest proposal and says he hopes to have the pier constructed by the end of 2005.
