The 1,128 votes of Independent Michael O’Gorman are being distributed in count 10 in the Listowel Municipal District count afresh. John Brassil, Robert Beasley and Aoife Thornton have all been elected so far in the seven seat constituency. No other candidate has reached the quota of 1,843 (down 2 on 2014). The count afresh is taking place following a legal challenge taken by Independent candidate Dan Kiely who narrowly missed out on a seat in 2014. Count nine involved the distribution of Tim Buckley’s 928 votes. The full result of count of nine is as follows: Dianne Nolan SF – 1546 (+56 ) Liam Purtill FG – 1329 (+187) Jimmy Moloney FF – 1276 (+82) Mike Kennelly FG – 1237 (+239 ) Dan Kiely IND- 1185 (+47 ) Pat Leahy LAB – 1134 (+ 164) Michael O’Gorman IND – 1128 (+49) After count nine Dan Kiely is 4 votes down on where he was at this stage in 2014 Jimmy Moloney is down 5 and Mike Kennelly is down 2. In the final shake up in 2014 – just five votes separated these candidates with Kiely losing out by two votes for the final seat. Returning Officer Charlie O’Sullivan has now eliminated Michael O’Gorman and his 1,128 votes are being distributed among the candidates who remain for count ten.
