Councillor says repairs to mid-Kerry water pipes delaying installation of new ones

A mid-Kerry councillor says the number of water outages in the area is now beyond the joke. Cllr Brendan Cronin Brendan Cronin made the comments following the revelation by Radio Kerry News that Irish Water reported 240 outages in the county last year, with the bulk of those occurring in mid-Kerry. At one point in December, hundreds of customers in the greater Beaufort and Faha areas were without a water supply for four days in one week. €500,000 allocated to replace two sections of pipe in Firies and Faha last year has yet to be spent. Cllr Cronin says this is because council crews are too busy dealing with breakages in existing pipes to start replacing new ones: [audio_player src=””]
