Councillor calls for Carbon Monoxide Alarms installed in all council houses

A Kerry County Councillor has called for all council houses to have carbon monoxide alarms installed in them.

Independent Cllr Johnny Healy-Rae made the request at a recent municipal meeting for South and West Kerry.

In response, Kerry County Council said that it is carrying out a planned programme for the replacement of smoke alarms.

The council also said that its intention is to seek approval from the Department of Housing, Planning & Community & Local Government for funding in 2017 for the installation of carbon monoxide alarms.
