Councillor calls for a member of Kerry Islamic Outreach to be appointed to migrant taskforce

Cllr Toireasa Ferris A Kerry County Coucillor is calling for a member of the Kerry Islamic Outreach Society to be appointed to the council’s migrant taskforce. Sinn Fein’s Toireasa Ferris says there are no Arabic speakers on the task force and the Syrian families that have been accommodated in Kerry have no English. Councillor Ferris says the families need English lessons and counselling services, especially for the children who have been exposed to unspeakable things in Damscus, Hommes and the refugee camp in Lebanon. She says these services are also important for the purposes of integration.
