A Kerry County Councillor has called on the Taoiseach to begin the process of banning the advertising of alcohol products.

Cllr John Joe Culloty told the monthly meeting of the local authority the excessive consumption of alcohol contributes to unnecessary social, human and economic costs.

Following on from a previous motion in July a letter was sent to the Southern Regional Drug and Alcohol Task Force, which said it strongly supported the motion.
